Big Al's Pizza
I can't beleive it is time again for the "Run For Life" run/walk. This is the third year for team"BIG AL'S PIZZA". This was all started by my daughters and I am so gratefull for that. Being involved in this has been a grate experience. Each year a group of us get together to raise money for a cause that has helped save many lives and celebrate life.
The name "Big Al's Pizza" was my daughters idea. It comes from soomething I use to do when they were young. I would call the house, back when there were land lines, and if one of the girls would answer I would say "this is Big Al's Pizza, I have a pepperoni pizza here for you". Then the conversation would go on from there. It varied over time but it was always Big Al's Pizza. When caller id came along it took alot of the fun out of it.
Our group is friends, family aquaintances and every year we meet new friends that join our team. We are all of different ages and ability levels but we are all there for the same reason, to celebrate life with friends and raise money to save lives.
This year will be different than previous year because of the covid virus. We will be doing a vitual run/walk. You can walk or run with small groups of friends in you favorite spot. We will not be able to meet as a team but we will still be a team accomplishing wounderful things. Next year I hope that everything can be back to normal and we can run and walk together and then have our team BBQ.
Please join us this year to help raise the awareness about the need for organ donation. This year you are needed more than ever. If you cannot join the run/walk you can also donate. Also remember to sign up as an organ doner SIGN UP AS AN ORGAN DONOR and tell friends and relatives.
Join our team for the 10th annual Donate Life Run/Walk! This event helps to raise awareness about the need for organ, eye and tissue donation, celebrate those touched by donation, and honor the donors who have given the gift of life.
Funds raised from the Run/Walk help provide education on organ, eye, and tissue donation through community outreach, research, clinical events and our annual Donor Family Gatherings. Each person touched by Donor Network West’s public education campaigns, who then registers as a donor, has the potential of saving 8 lives through organ donation and improving another 75 lives through tissue donation.
It’s easy to make a difference – just click the button to the left and join my team. If you’re unable to join, you can still help by making a donation. Any amount helps the over 22,000 people waiting for a life-saving transplant in Northern California and Northern Nevada.
I hope you will join us at the Donate Life Run/Walk and help to build a future where all those waiting for a transplant receive their second chance at life.
