Below is the statment I posted in 2018 less than a year after my transplant. I walked that year with my family and many great friends. It's worth coming out just for the fun and BBQ, but we also get to help a great cause. Our team name is"Big Al's Pizza" ,which has a story of its own. We are hoping to beat our fund raising from last year. If you were there last year please join us again if you didn't make it last year come join us, I am sure you will have a great time. If you cannot make it, there is a donate button.
Thank you
Paul
2018
My name is Paul Elliott. Back in October of last year I had a heart transplant that saved my life. My quality of life is so much better now and Donor Newtwork West had a lot to do with this. My brother also had a heart transplant two years ago and he is also doing great. This is due to a genetic defect that runs in my family and may effect other family members. That is why I am teaming up with Donor Network West to raise awareness about the need for organ, eye and tissue donation at the 8th annual Donate Life Run/Walk! So come join me, my friends and my family, September 8th at Heather Farms Community Park in Walnut Creek. This event will celebrate those touched by donation and honor the donors who have given the gift of life.
Funds raised from the Run/Walk help provide education on organ, eye, and tissue donation through community outreach, research, clinical events and our annual Donor Family Gatherings. Each person touched by Donor Network West’s public education campaigns, who then registers as a donor, has the potential of saving 8 lives through organ donation and improving another 75 lives through tissue donation.
It’s easy to make a difference – just click the button to the left to make a donation. Any amount helps the over 11,000 people waiting for a life-saving transplant in Northern California and Northern Nevada.
I hope you will join me in building a future where all those waiting for a transplant receive their second chance at life.
Thank you!
