How do I register for the Run/Walk?

How much does it cost to participate in the Run/Walk?

  • $30 for adults
  • $20 for students (high school and college)
  • $15 for children under 10

*Children under 5 are free but will not receive a t-shirt. If you would like a t-shirt for your child, he/she will need to be a paid participant.

* A suggested fundraising minimum of $50 to waive shipping cost for race packets.


How do I create a team?

Creating a team is easy! Start by clicking 'Start a Team'. You will automatically become the Team Captain. Make your team name and start asking your friends, family, and coworkers to join!


What does being a Team Captain entail?

As a Team Captain, you are strongly encouraged to recruit people to join your team, help your teammates fundraise, keep your team motivated, and, of course, have fun! There are many tools for you to easily send emails and share links to your social media pages to get others involved.


What do I need to bring with me to pick up my packet?

You will need to print out your confirmation email and bring your ID. Anyone under the age of 18 is not required to show ID as long they have the confirmation email.


Can someone else pick up my race packet for me?

Yes, someone else can pick up your packet for you. That person will need a printed out copy of your confirmation email in order to pick it up. That person be required to sign an additional waiver on your behalf.


Can my race packet be shipped?

Yes! We kindly ask for a financial contribution to be made of $50.00 to cover shipping cost.  Please register by August 31st to ensure race packets are delivered on time for race day.


What is a virtual run and how does it work?

With a virtual race, participants are able chose when and where they want to run or walk to complete their distance. Destinations can include walking or running in the park, outdoor trails, the treadmill, or anywhere of your choice. Participants can chose to run on the event date or any other days at your own pace.


Who can participate?

We highly encourage every one of all ages and abilities to participate in the run/walk. There are no restrictions on who can register. With a virtual race, anyone can join in on the fun from wherever you are!


I have completed the virtual run/walk distance, what should I do now?

Congratulations! We thank you for participating and supporting our cause. We encourage you to celebrate and show off your achievements! Please share your experience and stories on social media and tag us @donateliferun with #RUN4LIFE. Find some sweet deals and exclusive discounts in your goodie bag!


What do I get with my registration fee?

Besides supporting a life-saving cause, you will receive a commemorative t-shirt, medal, downloadable bib and giveaways from our sponsors.


Is there a minimum age for the 5K or 10K?

There is no minimum age to participate in the 5K or 10K. We encourage everyone of all ages to run or walk.


How can my company participate or sponsor the event?

We are looking for all types of companies to be involved and are counting on their help to educate the public about organ and tissue donation. Companies can participate in many ways ranging from sponsoring a team, forming a team, becoming an official sponsor, and making an in-kind donation. For inquiries about getting your company involved, please contact events@dnwest.org.


How do I start fundraising for the Run/Walk?

Fundraising is easy! The best way to start is to login to your account and begin personalizing your page. You can add a photo and a personal story as to why you are participating in the Donate Life Run/Walk. Once you have personalized your page, send invite emails to your friends and family and use the social media tools to spread the word.


What do the raised funds support?

Funds raised from the event go towards organ and tissue donation education in Donor Network West's service area of Northern California and Nevada. This includes, but is not limited to, education in hospitals, high schools, and events in the community. Additionally, the funds benefit the annual Donor Family Ceremonies which honor donor families and their loved ones.


What if it's raining on the day of the Run/Walk?

The event will take place rain or shine! We do not offer refunds in the event of inclement weather.


Is there a requirement for team size?

A team can be as big or small as you choose (according to local restrictions while respecting social distancing).


Do I have to be on a team to participate?

No! You can participate as an individual or as a team, it is up to you.


Can I make my own shirt for the Run/Walk?

Of course! You can create your own team shirts which has been done in past years. The more team spirit the better.


To whom should I make a check payable?

Please make checks payable to: Donor Network West


How can I see who has contributed financially to my team?

Go to the Login section on the site. Enter your Username and Password. There you can view all contributions made to your personal page. You can also send thank you notes to your contributors.


What are matching gifts and how will they help me reach my fundraising goal?

Some companies offer their staff members a chance to match gifts that their employees make to certain charities. Matching Gifts programs vary from company to company. Be sure to contact your Human Resources or Community Giving department to find out if your company offers a Matching Gifts program and how that Matching Gifts program works. Obtain the proper forms that you need to submit in order for your matching gift to be counted towards your final individual fundraising goal.
